Music Business Conference
Hey!
... sorry ='(
I know I haven't posted a blog entry in forever, I guess things have gotten a bit busy. AND I WAS out of town for 4 days.. Although, I DID bring my laptop so, I guess that's no excuse. :P
What have I got to say for myself?...
Hmm. well let's see. . .
I went up island to Comox for the Music Business Conference. The original plan was to play at the Youth Showcase, which was held at Joe's Garage..
Judging by the picture above I assume that YOU assumed, that I did in fact play at the showcase. That was all that was involved in the original plan. In the new plan, turns out that all the performers get in the Conference for free. (The conference costed A LOT) So, of course we went..
and it was awesome! =) I learned SO much! Everything from singing tips, songwriting tips, inside scoops on the music biz, how to get your music heard, how to market yourself on the web, the list goes on.. It was really neat how the conference worked as well. It wasn't structured like you'd think it would have been. It was literally, all the "speakers" introducing themselves at the beginning and then getting right into questions from the audience. That was what all the conference's were. Like, I'm so and so and I specialize in booking tours, what do you want to know? It was really open. And that made it interesting and fun.
I really enjoyed it. =]
I also met a lot of very cool people :) ...

It's 12:12 AM, so I think it's safe to call it quits for tonight.
Ttys .. maybe =P

You'll Never Know... unless you sign up for my Mailing List! =P
I suppose it's about that time again, Blog entry time!
I'm writing less now because 1) I never finish what I start (which is why my music is a miracle), and 2) I bought a Journal, a REAL one for myself. To write more, personal, stuff.
I mean, for some things I have to draw the line of posting it for anyone to see.
Sorry ;)
So, today me and my dad finished recording the vocals for this new song I'm working on called You'll Never Know. I'm REALLY excited about it. It's the first song ever that I have produced fully myself using Garageband and actually done something with. Like taking it to my dad and having him mix it and then singing the lead and harmony vocals, and VIOLA! Creating a kick ass song! =D I can't wait for it to be done. My dad's just downstairs now finishing the mix, and then maybe in a couple of days I can post it up on my website, that'll get people to visit it hopefully, haha. ;) OH! Maybe I'll bribe people with it to get them to sign up for my e-mail list.
-HOLD THAT THOUGHT.
10 minutes later..
C= !!!!! =D =D =D x a trillion!!!!
AHHHHHH!!!!
So, my dad called me downstairs to listen to the final mix, and HOLY CRAP IT'S FRIGGEN AMAZING!!!!! =D =D
I am dazzled, i am SOOO excited for you guys to here it! I'm ELATED!
& those of you who ARE on my e-mail list will be the first to hear it,
so now's a good time to sign up! :D:D:D:D:D

It's Been Too Many
I wrote a song.
=D
It's a short song.
It's only about 2 minutes long.
I wrote it two nights ago.
It's about ... well it's about, someone.
Pretty much all of my songs are about "someone."
And by that, I don't mean about the same someone. That would be just a LITTLE obsessive. =P
Songs are how I express my feelings.
Each song of mine expresses a different feeling and state of mind. A different mood, opinion, point of view. And being an adolescent, they change quite frequently.
My songs are also story's.
Story's of my life.
It's a great way to keep track of it. ;)
So here's the most current "feeling/state of mind/mood/opinion/point of view/story" that's turned into a song.
Oh and also, usually for me, the most intense emotions get turned into songs.
For example, I'm not gonna write a song about how I feel about pop corn. It has to be something that eats me up inside, or makes me extremely excited. Something that has a big impact on my character, and me as a person.
Anyway, no further delay.

It's been too Many.
Its been too many years
Its been too many days
Its been too many ways to avoid you I'd say.
It's been too many months
It's been too many awkward moments
It's been too many erase the past and start again
, my friend.
It's been too many grades
It's been too many stages in our lives
It's been too many times that I've ever felt criticized.
It's been to many holding back
It's been to many words I've lacked
It's been to many times when I've looked at you
, and you don't have a clue.

"Things are never how I imagine them to be."
Today was the "big" Garage Sale. It didn't turn out exactly as I imagined it, but then again nothing really does. I always imagine things bigger and better then they actually are. For example, my gig's. If it's supposed to be in a hotel or something that's fancy, I always picture it way bigger than it turns out to be.
Which, I find to be a relief when it doesn't meet my expectations, because I still get nervous. I think I'm just a nervous person. Can't help it. But, I suppose in a way I can, I think I'm getting better at performing the more I do it. I want to perform as much as possible. Tonight I had a gig at the Grand Pacific Hotel, it was nice and easy- just two songs, but boy, was I nervous. I always am before such a formal event, but every time as soon as I get going on stage I relax. Thank god, if I didn't I wouldn't know what to do with myself. In less words, I think I'd be screwed.
Anyway, today was indeed the Garage Sale, and as I said, it was different then what I imagined. I imagined a bright, warm and sunny day with lots of people looking at all of our items and familiar faces stopping by to say hello.
With, background music playing, up-beat summery tunes like "Summer of '69" and "All Summer Long," when I wasn't up on the little platform of a stage slamming on my beautiful Takamine guitar. - It wasn't like that. The weather was cold with overcast as for as the eye can see, and it was trying to rain from 9 AM on. A decent amount of people showed up, but not many familiar faces- at least not the faces I expected. (thanks to everyone who did show up :) And there was no music playing, I did bring out my guitar for a bit because I had to stretch out my new E string my dad replaced for the Father's and Daughter's Dance. All in all, the Garage Sale wasn't how I pictured it, but it was still fun. My neighbors are great people and I have a lot of fun with them. =)
We sold a good majority of our stuff, and got rid of the rest without having to drive to the Salvation Army, which was a bonus. I made about $40 from my stuff, and my mum made like $300. I know! I much prefer busking as a way to come up with cash, haha. It's MUCH more effective. ;)
Now, being after the Garage Sale, I'm left with about a half less dense room, still was stuff from the closet on the floor, from going through everything. I went through my entire room last night. Took me from when I got home from school, around 3 o'clock to 12:30 AM. THAT'S A LONG TIME, and A LOT of stuff! I've been meaning to go through my room though, I just never thought I'd do it in one afternoon. One half a day. CRAZINESS.
So that was the story of today. The Garage Sale was a success, just a different success than how I imagined, and the Father's and Daughter's Dance went well, despite my level of nervousness beforehand.
Now, as for the rest of the day, my job's are to put all of my belonging's I took out when preparing for the Garage Sale back where they should be, to update my website with Performance pictures and then COLLAPSE.
See yah!

It's easy to fall off the ban wagon.
Why hellooo fellow bloggers! -actually, hello mostly non- bloggers.
I think the majority of people who read my blog don't have blogs of their own. But, I highly recommend it. It's a great hobby, and it makes you more... involved in your life, more... aware of everything that you might not be as aware of if you didn't write that they happened every day. It makes you sharper. ;)
BUT, it is easy to fall off the ban wagon once you've been riding it for a week or so. =P
Although, that could just be me. Besides music, most things I try for a while and I think I'm doing good until about a week or two and then I just end up stopping abruptly. Like, with my blogging for instance. I think I was blogging for a good couple of weeks (maybe a week and a half..) and then like lots of other things I just stopped. Which detours me quite a bit, because I'm a perfectionist and since I stopped writing entry's for a week I have this big empty space in the middle of my "daily posts" that annoys me so. >_<
..It was looking so pretty for a while there, lol.
But anyway, I'm back now and I guess that's all that matters in the scheme of things.
I only have two more tests to do for catching up in school, those last pesky little Chemistry things. I'm planning on writing one this week and one next week on Tuesday- deadlines Wednesday. I'm cutting it close, I know. It's what I always do.
After I'm finished those, are really somewhere more in between them I'll be working on doing a crap load of PE assignments. FUN. O.O I think the whole thing is really ridiculous. It kind of makes me mad, but I'm just gonna whip through them, finish them quickly (and hopefully painlessly) and be done with it all.
Now, after THAT I will be done. ^_^ ahhh, It'll be so blissful.
Except for of course, when exams roll around which is right around the corner. AYIYI! =o
But, I'm not to worried anymore, in Math at least, I know that even if I fail the exam I still pass the course. Which makes me EXTREMELY relieved and content. =)
Lately, it's been summer weather, and I've probably mentioned in the past that I couldn't wait for it to finally come, and don't get me wrong I love it. It's beautiful, but man, this is some dang hot weather! I don't remember it being this hot this soon last year. But that could be just because time is flying by, it doesn't feel like it's almost summer- but indeed it is!
Which makes me very happy to think about, but also very stressed. (because of all the things needed to be done before then). But as my brother would say "Don't worry, everything will work out. It's fiine, it's great! It all works out in the end!" lol, and well, he's pretty much right.
I need people like that in my life, reassuring me 24/7. If I didn't I'd probably go insane.
Well, time for dinner and time for me to end my big giant rant.
thanks for listening, well reading this far. ;)
Till next time

You Said

New song! - Well, for you it is. =P For me, it's like, the oldest of songs.
I wrote it when I was 11, I'm pretty sure it's the first song I've written that's a full length song, that's actually good (good enough to still be playing four years later), and the first to have instrumentation (the guitar). What I did was, I wrote the lyrics and the melody when I was that age (11) and then, I think about a year later, I came back to it and figured out what chords would go best with it and viola! Now it's actually a performable song!
It's called "You Said" and it's about, well it's probably pretty obvious what it's about, but If you need a hint then, I wrote it about a disappointing friend. One that only made things worse for me. And if someone does that, than there not really a friend at all.
Remember I was only 11 when I wrote this, so some of the things are fiction, like the line "but then you take the boy I like and turn to jealousy." I only wrote it in there because it rhymed and worked in the song. Also, it could be applied for other girls in these types of situations. Representing the immaturity.
I usually have some level of exaggeration in my songs. It makes them more moody and interesting. But the feelings I had while writing them are not exaggerated. My songs are for you to interpret, for you to apply to your own life and experiences, to get what you will out of them. Not for me to tell you exactly what their about. They mean something different to everyone.
So anyway, here's "You Said"...
You Said
Friends forever,
it seems like that would be a very long time
I'll take whatever,
maybe once but not a second time.

(Above^ Me when I was 10, just a year younger than I was when I wrote You Said.)
Well, that's all for today folks!
Till tomorrow*

Twas a Grand Day. =)

Ahh, =)
Today has been a grand day.
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and I don't know, it's just pretty great. :)
Today I had Sushi at Hiro's instead of the regular ole' chicken and veggie's with rice and om nom sauce. :| Lol, I know that was random, but it's a bit significant dragging on to the point that I am not good at making decisions. No, let me rephrase that- I'm extremely indecisive.
AND, it was Hiro's day. =P See, every Thursday, me and some of my friends go to Hiro's (a Japanese Restaurant at the mall right by our school). It's becoming a tradition now, it's kind of our thing. ^.^ It's just so delicious, and FAST! Those asians sure know how to whip up a mean stir fry. LOL.
I went to my old elementary school with Emily (my neighbor/my friend since the wee years) to practice on my batting. I don't know if I've mentioned this before but, I'm an extremely horrible batter. =| I mean, i think it's physically impossible for me to hit the ball. Last year I don't remember it being so bad, but things have changed. I don't know what it is but- I don't particularly like it.
So, anyway, we went to work on that and I did hit it numerous times pretty good and far, but that usually doesn't make a difference. When it counts, I'm nowhere near it. Everyone seems to want to believe in me, they let me swing like 7 times, but it's quite sad. Me and my feeble attempts. *shakes head*
"Oh dear!" As my friend Heather would say. ^_^
Let's see, this blog is kind of dragging on a bit. It seems I'm losing my writing edge.
I didn't even type up a blog for yesterday- shame on me. But I WAS working on Trigonometry, and I watched parts of the final American Idol show. I was soo surprised Kris won, but glad. I didn't really like Adam- he's such a poser and his voice is very irritating. Not rock n' roll whatsoever (thus the poser point). He belongs in Broadway.
Well, I smell dinner and hear the family gathering for another BBQ
(since the weather's so nice again).
I'm off!
Till another day- or maybe later, it depends if I have time to work on another old song for "KS Restoration."
Chau!

Case of the Mondays- on Tuesday. =|
*Few!* I feel like I was just on a sketching relay or something..
I got caught up for four weeks of sketching in a couple of hours. =]
BUT, I didn't do any trigonometry. =| Hmph.
I guess I'll do that tomorrow since I have a headache right now, and I did spend the past two hours on school work, I think I've made my quota for the day.
I'm pooped. *yawn* and to think, it's only 9 o'clock. O.o
Ugh, I rarely get headaches. I've been getting them lately because I've been stressed. Although, the one i have now is most likely due to delayed trauma of todays p.e. incident. I cannot escape getting hit pretty good in the head every year in p.e. It's like the ball is trained to track me, or my head, down. -_- But, I won't have to worry about that for much longer, because next year I didn't sign up for p.e! :D I'm so happy =]
This morning, I woke up at 7:40 AM, regular time for a weekday, groaning because of the hatred I feel for having to disrupt (probably) my REM cycle- for school. =[
It really kills me, especially after a long weekend. It's a rude awakening I'll tell yah. Well, you probably already know the feeling, most people do. Anyone with a normal job, or that goes to school does.
But anyway, I woke up early and I was really debating on going or not. You know that feeling, where it would be so easy to just pull back the sheets and not go at all. Live that day for you, cause if it was your last I'm betting you wouldn't spend it the same as how you do everyday.
But, I knew that wasn't a possibility. I THOUGHT I had math first block. I THOUGHT I "had a case of the Monday's" (LOL Office Space) but i forgot about the long weekend and it was actually Tuesday. So, I had my Science test first. ... YAY! =|
I got 63% though, not to shabby for not really paying much attention and not studying at all.
And, another thing that made me feel better was that apparently I'm already passing in Science, even though I haven't written two Chemistry tests that I missed.
Can I say, "BOOYAH!" =DD
So even though I'm a bit stressed and on edge lately, it's nice to know that I'm actually not completely failing. :) Well, not failing at all, just behind. I think I can deal with that.
My perfectionist side says the opposite, but I'm fighting that side- well at least trying.
I think that's all for now- I have a bed to lay on. *YAWN*
